 You remember dying. In fact, you remember the exact feeling and fear of how you died, and yet in the next moment, you're suddenly standing in a cold room. You're not sure how you got here at all, but it's as if you were suddenly put here the moment after you died. As you look around, the first thing you'll notice is that you're standing in front of an open casket. And you're inside. The corpse inside the casket is definitely you, and it's also definitely dead, which certainly makes this confusing. Luckily, here's someone here to explain. When you wake up, there's footsteps walking closer, and then a familiar face appears. Iván is here, or someone that looks very much like her is. All she starts off with is two simple words— "You're dead." Which would seem obvious, but she explains that you have been before you ever arrived to the island. The shipwreck and the island are't real, after all. This is purgatory, and the Hunt is a way to judge the souls of the living. People show their true nature when they're put in a stressful situation, so it was deemed that this was the way that these judgements would be passed. She explains that you'll know your fate when the game ends, but if you really can't wait that long, you could always ask, but hope isn't lost. After all, the "killers" are on your side. If they can win the game, then everyone can come back to life. They know this, and it's why they're fighting so hard to win. It's a shame that the odds don't seem to be in their favor, but that's also part of the Hunt. Exploring your new surroundings, you'll realize that you're likely at the bottom of that giant sinkhole, at least if that light far above you is any indication. You no longer feel the need to eat or sleep anymore (technically, you never did, but the habits of being alive are hard to break), so it's a good thing there's enough to do while the game continues. You can watch the proceedings of the Hunt in one room where there's plenty of comfortable couches to sit in and lounge, as well as a fully stocked bar, if you feel like indulging. Another room offers a game room with cards, billiards, and any other games you'd like to play in a group. If you ask your host nicely, she might provide more, but for now, there's not much to do other than to watch and wait for the Hunt to end. |

[ As if that were even practical, but whatever. Ema is sitting on a couch with a glass of something sweet and alcoholic, because spectating is always better with drinks and snacks. Snackoos would, of course, be her edible accompaniment of choice, but alcohol is all they have on hand, soooo. ]

[ Sephiroth doubts anyone remaining would have thought to, but if he were in the General's place, he might've, to help distract investigation. That aside, he might be tempted to grab a drink too... not that he's planning on getting drunk or anything, but it is simply fitting for the situation. ]
Suggesting by way of discussion I predict an individual who had associated with Orion before he died. That would possibly get them to discuss names, even if no one truly wants to.

If they're going for the Orion angle, I expect Matt will have the most to say about any suspects.
[ She scoffs quietly. Trying to hunt down a bad guy to avenge an actual bad guy. Not that Orion is a bad guy in the grand scheme of things, but still. If anything, whoever killed Orion was almost certainly aligned with the innocent. ]

[ But in a way, he supposed that would be a good thing. So they should be leaping for joy, and spilling confetti everywhere! Yay, yay-- except that was not happening. ]

Statistically] Scientifically speaking, there's a very high chance of one of the swords being a Foxhound or the General, but no one is choosing to address that problem. Blind eyes turned everywhere.[ Young friends. Alas. ]
It's a cruel game that forces you to suspect your friends. Which is the correct path to Heaven, I wonder? Trusting in your friends unconditionally, or viewing them critically for the good of the group?

[ What is friendship? Even on his world, he had little he could call that, and there are times where he wondered how long would that last. Although, at her question, he could only help but wonder. He's... hesitant to say what he thinks here, because he believes it might require some elaboration, but it's an important matter to discuss. ]
I won't pretend I know the answer, because I'm not sure what exactly I've done that would make myself any more qualified than anyone else. I had presumed my actions of spearheading naming someone on nothing and being judged guilty by so many as well as finding out the truth could mean that I was in for something more dark entirely. It's possible trusting or not trusting in your 'friends' is not just the simple criteria.
Perhaps it is what else you have done... how your own actions were toward others. How much effort you put forth in order to shed light on your own situation as well as others, instead of just sitting back, and letting others take the risk. If you were willing to assist someone you didn't know, even if you knew you could never meet them face-to-face. How hard you are willing to fight.
[ He was willing to fight, even in the end, but he hadn't wanted to hurt Royce too badly, for his own reasons. ]
Of course it could be something rather simple. But, this game has a habit of being anything but.

[ That kid being Kamui. Ema speaks almost boredly, but she looks askance at Shijima with curiosity. ]

Not in the way you mean. I said I had all the tools in the world for what I did, yes? I had access to all sorts of weapons...up to and including a way to fake anyone else's "powers", though I never used that this time around. Even with that, I didn't even really need any of them except to be tricky. I do actually have weapons of my own, and I'm much stronger than a human - faster, too.
[ Without any warning, there are metal claws hooked over her fingers, as she holds up her hands for Ema to see. It's a practiced movement, and she's clearly had them on her all this time... ]
See? Assuming I was weaponless at all and then assuming again that I didn't have access to extra weaponry is just a mistake of theirs, you know?

I don't have any interest in harming anyone here at this point, so don't worry so much. [ SHE LOST, IT NO LONGER MATTERS ] I'm just making a point. If they make their choices based on who has weapons, or who seems to have weapons, the choices aren't guaranteed to be correct...the game will always facilitate murder for the killing roles.

They're all different. Some seem to enjoy the game. Some don't. They all universally hate the Zaroff when one is in play, apparently...

The first one I ever had was colder than this one. Smug. None of us liked him. [ But that could just be how she read the situation, couldn't it? Either way, she doesn't care for Overseers. ]

That also raises the question: what happens to an Overseer if they happen to die? Presumably they aren't beings like us, who get to move on or come back to life once the game is done. But judging by their distaste for you, they must face some consequence if a Zaroff manages to get them voted off.

So do you think Jason is the gunsmith? [ An abrupt subject change, but. ] If Royce knows for sure that crazy sword got a gun, it's possible that guy is some manner of detective...he did, after all, kill a member of the opposition.

I suppose it's possible, if a Fox was able to look into Crazy Sword early on and notify Jason, then check Orion afterward. And somewhere in there, Royce's investigator just happened to check on Crazy Sword as well. It's a tight series of coincidences, don't you think?
[ Some people really are that lucky, but best not lean on such an unscientific principle. ]
I'm more inclined to believe that a sword is the gunsmith.
