FOXES day zero Ivan has told you what you're meant to do in the coming days, and she's also told you that there's an hour before other people will start washing up on the shores. She has to leave to prepare, but you're together in the gardens of the mansion for now. Take it as a chance to meet each other and get to know who you'll be working with.

Aah, geez. [ a heavy sigh. ] Are you trying to be annoying on purpose? I couldn't care less about you being Huma. You just seem pretty fixated on my being Katze. No one could blame me for being kinda defensive, right?

[ even if he actually does tend to think less of the other species of the world. It doesn't matter much here. ]

We're both foxes now, anyway.

[Huma. Katze. Jason doesn't pause to consider it so much as he just keeps it in mind.] True enough.

Depending on who the others are, they might be fond of those furry ears. Think you can flick them enough to get them to talk, or am I going to have to do all the work?

[ he doubts his ears alone can make anyone talk - if they can, that person's got to be pretty pathetic - but he also doubts that "Red" is serious about believing it. ]

You're so cold to me. I could make people talk even without my cute ears.

[ he's the nice brother, after all...! ]

I hope so. We're going to have to make sure not to waste a turn. [Shifting the helmet over into his hands again, Jason stands, stretching his back until it cracks.] So, business. [He eases the helmet under one arm.]

I'd suggest picking two people: someone who seems the most dangerous and someone who doesn't. But, hey, it's just a suggestion.

[ at least they changed topics. Auger wasn't looking forward to a full course of annoying cat jokes from this guy - although he's pretty sure he hasn't escaped them yet.

As for targets... ]

Mm, that's a solid plan. Your head's not all bad humor, huh? [ pause. ] But I think we should investigate that Ivan, too. She didn't say we couldn't.

[ he's not convinced this isn't a trap at all. ]

Not all of it. [But some.] Fair enough. [Not that Jason wasn't suspicious of her to begin with.]

You should double-back to the beach after a while and get a little wet again, maybe help some of the others. Otherwise, people will know we were already here.

[baaaaka]

[ his ears cant slightly, giving the impression of annoyance. He dislikes being ordered around if the person doing the ordering isn't his twin brother. ]

Sure, sure. Whatever. [ doing something like pulling the wool over the public's eyes is easy; he's done it plenty of times. Sighing, Auger fixes him with a stare. ] I'll let you in on something, Red - I've investigated a lot of people before. Usually, people that didn't want me investigating them! It's not like I'm going to walk up and tell everyone. I don't need some human giving me tips.

[Jason seems a bit exasperated, rolling a shoulder.] Look, Kitty-cat: I don't know you, so I'm not going to assume you know or don't know how things work. Giving you the benefit of the doubt could be a bad call.

So I'm offering you advice. You don't have to take it. It's best if we communicate, even if it means repeating what we already know.

Sound reasonable?

It would be more reasonable if you'd treat me with a little more respect, big shot. We've just met, you know. I think it would be nice if we could have a smooth, friendly start to our partnership.

[ it might be bad to stand his ground so firmly here, but everything's happened pretty quickly, and he's not in the mood to bow his head to a stranger, especially when he has no idea if it would even pay off in the end. ]

I know you're probably stressed out and stuff, but I don't think that's asking for too much, hm?

[Surprisingly, Jason appreciates when people stand their ground because, well, he stands his ground, too.] I'm not stressed, just pissed. And suspicious.

Watch yourself, Auger. [It sounds at first like a threat, but then he continues:] This place isn't going to be Fairy Princess Land.

That doesn't mean you gotta be so unkind. Loosen up. I won't bite your head off, I promise!

[ rest assured that Auger is suspicious, too. He's just gotten really good at acting like he's not. ]

We've got a head start on the other guys, anyway. It might go pretty well.
