night four - kill log.
Who: Killers and RedJason Todd
When: The fourth night
Where: The jungles of Ship-Trap Island
[ It's the dead of night when you first hear it. It's the distinct sound of baying hounds barking nearby. This must be the Hunt that you were warned of, and though it seems impossible, they sound very close. You can try and run, but The General and his foxhounds are hot on your trail... And oddly enough, even if you do try and run, you'll feel yourself growing more and more tired with every step. It seems this wasn't a completely fair hunt from the start. ]

[Well, doesn't look like Jason is in much of a mood to talk. She smiles again, this time rather tense.] Trust me, more than one of us is going to leave this place. But I like the attitude.
[Come on, kid, give her hell.]

[But it's just hissed under her breath, even as Clarine stomps her foot lightly on the jungle ground.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING don't talk to crazy people before you murder them!!!]

Another laugh, just as dry.] You caught me. I'm the one with the gun, right? The one who can use them.
[He curls his fist around the kris more tightly.] Someone forcing you to do-- [His head snaps up when he hears the stomp of feet. Looks back to Gi-ne, concerned, then knowing, realizing.
Without warning, he takes off for Clarine, using the ruins to push. He's fast even when exhausted, and the first dog that comes at him will get a precise swipe back of the kris, the other a hard kick. Unlike the other birds, Jason is the tank, solid and two-hundred pounds, able to give a hit and take one.
Here he comes, Clarine!]

I didn't ask if you could use them- [When Jason takes off, Gi-ne's eyes widen comically.] Shit! Clarine!
[But then there's no more time to waste talking and she instead chases after Jason as well. She's small and lacking the ki that would normally give her blows their usual mountain-destroying force, but she's heavier than she looks. She's still strong enough to probably knock Jason onto the ground when she rushes at his side, elbow first.]
You brat! You're fighting me!

He comes at her, and she lifts the gun automatically, surprisingly calm, and fires before Gi-ne gets to him.
Her aim is probably still pretty poor though, despite all of her calm, and then Gi-ne is there and Clarine takes a quick couple of steps back, eyes narrowed and trying to see if she managed any damage at all (and she would still kill (perhaps literally) for her magic back).]

Regardless, it flies out of his hand when his arm doesn't bend completely, and he lands down on the ground in a roll, the gun clenched tightly in the other hand. The dogs jump him a second time. One gets an elbow square to the head, hard and brutal, drawing out a strangled yelp; the other clamps it jaws down on his arm. Jason twists a few times, then doesn't fight it since that will just tear him up more.
It's okay. He has a gun. But the bullet isn't for the dog, and the bullet isn't for Gi-ne or Clarine though he could easily try to shoot them. The bullet is for himself.]
They'll win even without me as a gunsmith. [Rasped, grinning wickedly.] You'll fuck up some time. He's angry this is what it has come to, but he'll be damned if he's going to be cheated (again) and tortured (again) and then killed (again) so pathetically, hunted.] I've died once before already. Maybe now I can rest for good.
[He puts the gun to his temple--Looks like you're going out with another bang! Ha ha ha!--and pulls the trigger.]

[Jason got a hit in too, the kris leaving an annoying gash on her right arm. She ignores it for now, instead focusing on straddling his back to keep him on the ground. Gi-ne growls and raises the cleaver up above her head.] Alright, I was looking forward to a fight but if you're gonna be like that-
[When did he draw his gun? The shock of it makes Gi-ne freeze for a crucial second that stops her from intervening before Jason can make his shot.]
Jason!

Is this what people think of them? That they would rather kill themselves than be killed by them?
(But then, she thinks back to the bodies, and even if they did not do that, she can't say she blames them.)
Still, fighting in battle is different from seeing something like this, and she's shaken, even as she looks away, eyes tightly shut. Somehow, this really doesn't feel like a victory at all.]

Gi-ne chokes on her breath when she finally remembers to breathe. Calm down. This is fine. This is different. She stands shakily, ignoring the blood dripping down her arm.]
... That- he didn't have to do that.
[Shit, Jason, you only had to ask.]

[It's said a little dully, but Clarine's a battlefield medic before anything else at this point (even before being a lady, perhaps) and so that's something she can focus on, rather than the fact that there is the body of a dead man in front of her (one who shot himself, so as to avoid being killed by them).
She doesn't have the proper supplies to really take care of Gi-ne's injuries, but she can at least clean it and wrap it.
She hasn't even considered that this might be bad come trial time; she's still too shocked by what happened.]

... I should probably come up with an excuse for that, huh? Should we hide his knife or just... [Leave everything where it is.]
