the general - night five.
THE GENERAL night five ![]() Instead of waking up in the jungle, you wake up elsewhere. This is the square where The General comes to decide what to do, and Ivan patiently sits on a bench, though she's as impassive as ever to what's going on. Each of you has your own foxhound who's barking happily to welcome you back. They'll help you find who you choose to hunt tonight. After all, you're saving them. You have a little while to discuss who you'll hunt tonight, but don't linger too long, since you only have until dawn. character statuses profiles All night votes will be due 8/26 by 5PM EST |

Tsurumaru...
[They'd almost lost him, too, and they have to be careful to make sure they don't. She knows that much. Losing another member of the murderfam would be too much.]
...Thank you. We...we will not lose anyone else.

Let's hope not. Orion, Gi-ne... At this rate, we can't afford it.
Should we make another prayer, too? For Gi-ne?

So she nods.]
Another prayer...for Gi-ne. [It isn't a big affair this time like last time--she just clasps her hands together, bowing her head over them.]
... May St. Elimine guide and protect the souls currently in her care [because St. Elimine is nicer than rude ivan] and may she look out for them. For Anna, who was kind to everyone. For Greed, who died with dignity. For Souza, who was kind and soft-spoken, and Mitsutada, who took care of his friends. For Jason-- [Her lips quirk vaguely, sadly] --who was his own soul to the very end.
And for Gi-ne, of course...who looked out for everyone, was kind to everyone, and did what she knew she had to do to save everyone. We are here because of her, and I--
[Her voice wavers, but she carries on as strongly as she can.]
... I am sorry. St. Elimine please take care of these souls...until we may rescue them from where they are.

Because in the end, the only sword whose blood he'd had on his hands was Horikawa.
As the days grow longer and more difficult, it's things like these that hold the remaining Generals together. He speaks up when she finishes, of course. ]
Thank you, Clarine. I don't know how to convey any of this, but these prayers do mean a lot to me.
It's good to pray for those who have departed, especially for those who have been kind to you. When someone is kind to you, it's a mistake to take it for granted. Sometimes, you'll wake up, and that person won't be there anymore.
And all you have left are unspoken words and regrets.
[ His expression brightens again, before he dwells on those matters. ]
Well, here's hoping that you never have to deal with any of that, not anymore.

That, though...]
That sounds...incredibly sad. [And he'd mentioned before that he was too used to others dying on him, and his lifespan...]
...But I have said so before, and I will say it again. We are not going anywhere. We shall be with you, Tsurumaru.

That sounds like what my master said. And my master before that. [ He gives her a slight smile, shaking his head, unable to accept the words that she repeats, if only out of fear for himself. ]
But, apparently... it only takes a few hours for an entire clan of people to be murdered. Around fiiiiiive hundred people, or so? [ A shrug. ] It also only takes a few hours for an entire clan to... [ He pauses, and eventually settles on the pause defining it, unable to find a better phrase for... 'commit... group seppuku'. ] after being dethroned. They weren't in a position to keep their lives.
When you see things like that... not once, but twice, you realize how fragile human lives are. It's why I worry for you, Hinata, and Hijikata.
