THE GENERAL night six Instead of waking up in the jungle, you wake up elsewhere. This is the square where The General comes to decide what to do, and Ivan patiently sits on a bench, though she's as impassive as ever to what's going on. Each of you has your own foxhound who's barking happily to welcome you back. They'll help you find who you choose to hunt tonight. After all, you're saving them. You have a little while to discuss who you'll hunt tonight, but don't linger too long, since you only have until dawn. rulebook character statuses profiles All night votes will be due 8/30 by 5PM EST

[ When you all wake up, Ivan isn't sitting in her usual spot. She's standing, and it looks like she has something in mind, and she opens with an interesting question. ]

[ She hesitates, then nods as if to steel herself. ]

I want to take a risk. If you are all willing. It's dangerous. But I think... If it worked, then these cruel games could stop.

[Yeah, no, Hinata's not answering immediately. Hinata's not answering much of anything immediately. He's not crying anymore, which is... something... but he is starting to get that weird, detached look he was sporting yesterday. People are asking him to choose something that he really isn't sure of, and has no basis for. When he finally does answer, it's low and hoarse from his earlier screaming.]

Does it... have anything to do with what happened to Melborn?

[BEFORE HE CAN TALK TO IVAN he needs to wake up and remember what happened. Which... doesn't take him very long, considering the phone clutched in his hand. As much as he wants to think it's a dream, the phone in his hand and the salty streaks dried on his cheeks are evidence enough that it did happen. And for a long moment, he looks like he's either going to start crying again, or he might scream. He doesn't even seem to register Ivan's question or Hijikata's yelling, not yet.

Instead, he gives himself almost a full minute of deliberation before powering up her phone, tapping through a couple screens to find the recorded message, then bringing the phone to his ear to listen. As he continues to listen, though, his expression slowly morphs from quiet frustration and sadness to something like shock, then horror.

After a couple minutes, he just... drops his hand, lips starting to twist into something almost like a smile. That's probably not good.]

[No, that definitely DOESN'T LOOK GOOD. Here's Clarine approaching, Erk at her feet, eyes wide and concerned.]

Hinata...

[...what does she even say?]

W-what is wrong?

[More than...you know, the usual murder and everything.]

[He doesn't look at Clarine when he speaks, though his eyes are weirdly wide as he keeps staring straight ahead.]

She-- I trusted her because I thought she went through a "game" like I had, that she'd had similar experiences and would understand. Everything we'd had, it was all based on a lie.

[A laugh bubbles up from his throat. It's not a nice laugh. Not that many people other than Rei have gotten to hear him laugh, but it definitely doesn't sound normal.]

... Hijikata. Hinata. I know that you have both suffered great losses. But...we must make a decision.

[And Clarine doesn't know what to do.]

Ivan has...offered us another choice, but she cannot tell us much about it. I do...trust her. I do. I believe she wishes to help us.

And yet, I am also not sure if that is truly...our best option. What should we do?

I... trust her too.

[Which really might be a negative point, considering his track record of trusting people is pretty much 1/1 right now between Rei and Matt.]

She's played this game before, and... she knows more than we do about its workings. You remember what the Judge said, right? That it's almost impossible for us to win. There's only three of us left, now, and after tonight... I'm certain I'll be investigated. I killed her, remember? And after tonight... it's obvious, isn't it? No matter who it is, if the Fox says someone is a general, they'll be voted for.

After tonight, including us, there are fourteen of us. We know that even if nothing else happens, if we fail to vote for the right person, three people will die, bringing us to eleven. That's a minimum of another five people we would need to... to kill to win, and that's assuming that none of us are voted for or killed in another manner.

I guess... what it really comes down to, though, is... are we the kind of people who can risk our own lives to try to-- to stop this for good?

[He truly doesn't know if he is. He hadn't been lying, when he'd told everyone he didn't want to die.]

... It is only us. We are...the only ones who would be in danger. That is what she said.

[She heard it...but it does hurt to consider. She's absolutely terrified by the prospect, but...]

... I do not like the Judge. I find her to be a disgusting stain on the earth. Spiting her would perhaps be worth it on its own [oh okay tell us how you really feel, Clarine.]

Do you believe this is a choice we should make, Hinata? If it is only us three...

[But it really, really is so scary.]

[ He's been quiet for most of the meeting, making sure he's at least paying attention to Ivan's and Hinata's conversation.

So he nods. ]

If you two are fine with it then it's not like I can complain. [ Simple as that! ]

I just want to bring back Souji. If I have to risk my life and die for him, then that's fine.
