Instead of waking up in the jungle, you wake up elsewhere. This is the square where Rainsford comes to decide what to do, and Ivan patiently sits on a bench. It's your job to pick someone to protect.

After all, you're saving them.

You have a little while to think about who you'll pick tonight, but don't think too hard, since you only have until dawn.

"So? Who will you protect?" Ivan asks, so clearly, she's not going to let you think on it that long.

( Man we could go full CLAMP here with the hand holding, heads touching, floating in the middle of the page deal with white specks and ribbons all over the place but we're not so chill )

But he's been helping us and trying to help the others too, right? Someone like that doesn't deserve to die.

None of them do. [ Fuuma and Urashima (and Kamekichi) are priority for him, but... he doesn't want anyone to die, and at this point, he doesn't want any more to die. ]

When... [ His voice drops to a murmur. ] When I thought there was only one General and that the others were merely Foxhounds, I hoped... [ Ah, what a face he's making right now. ] I had hoped we could find the General quickly and save everyone else - including the Foxhounds [ now Generals ] but this place is too cruel.

( He can agree with the sentiment and seeing Kamui like this is something new. )

We tried out best, right? To protect the people we thought could help everyone else. ( He's trying to be supportive-- no, comforting. ) It's hard when we can only protect one person... and maybe we could have done better if we knew more but we did our best.

You really are kind, Kamui. A lot of people here are. It really isn't fair.
